THE Skipton Veterans Inter-District team take on league leaders Bradford tomorrow.

The home leg is at Gargrave and has a 1.30pm start and the team know they will have to perform well.

The qualifiers in the Skipton Veterans Handicap include Trevor Hargreaves, David Hemsley and Alden Phillips who go forward to the last eight on June 22.

Cross Roads have reached the finals day of the Yorkshire Parks Brotherton Cup on July 8 which will be played in the Heavy Woollen area from 10am.

To do so, they beat Brighouse B by 14 points at Clayton where the winners were shared and a better show be needed when they meet Spen Victoria.

Local sides Oxenhope and Settle have also made progress in the mixed teams event run by the Yorkshire ABA. Oxenhope easily defeated Cleckheaton Moorend in the Hutchinson Trophy while Settle had a good win over Kirkheaton C in the Derek Radley Trophy.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday when Oxenhope meet Wakefield Thornes at West Bradford and Settle play Burley Park at Crowghyll with both having good chances to progress.

Yorkshire Ladies continue their County fixtures on Sunday against Burton with the home leg at Marsh in Huddersfield.

The away squad travel to Swadlincote Catholic Club with local Sharon Gadd and a recalled Viv Abell back in action in a game the champions should win.

Locally, the Valley Trebles are at Keighley on Sunday from 11am. The competition has been divided into two events to give players a double chance of success.

Oxenhope’s father and son pairing of Andrew and Thomas Johnson recently won the Hebden Handicap pairs at Heptonstall with some good wins while Thomas narrowly lost in the final of a major junior event held at Alkincotes Park in Colne 21-20.

County spies were watching, and he recently made his junior county debut for North Lancashire and Fylde in a good win over the Potteries.
