Mytholmroyd 313-8

Oxenhope 199 all out

OXENHOPE crashed to a 114-run defeat to big-hitting Mytholmroyd in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League Premier Division.

Openers Matthew Scofield (43) and Jemil Akhtar (53) set the tone for Mytholmroyd, before Luke Sutcliffe and Tom Conway both hit 67.

The innings was topped off by a quick-fire 36 not out from Hasnaat Mahmood as the visitors amassed a huge 313-8.

On a wicket offering no help to Oxenhope's quick bowlers there were two wickets each for Liam Dyson and Scot Mallinson, with Duncan Tetley taking three with his slower deliveries.

The home side's reply got off to a poor start as opener Josh Fleetwood was dismissed second ball and his partner Liam Dyson followed him back to the tent shortly after.

Eddie Jackson and Graham Ellis produced a promising stand before Ellis became the first of five victims for the accurate bowling of Spencer Harris (5-81).

Jackson anchored the innings on his way to a fine 70, but only Eddie Burke (32no) offered any real hope of victory as James Cowans cleared up the tail with 4-17 as the chase fell 114 runs short.

Meanwhile, Oxenhope's second team slipped to another defeat at Mount as they were only able to post an insufficient total of 100 with Hamzah Khan (30), Robbie Carling (22) and Nicky Holbrook (10) the only players to reach double figures. S Patel took six wickets for just 13 runs.

Khan offered some hope with three early wickets, but once he had to finish his spell due to bowling restrictions, the home side moved quickly past the meagre total, finishing on 104-4
