Oxenhope 177-3

Bridgeholme 174-9

OXENHOPE bounced back from the previous week's defeat with a seven-wicket win in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League Premier Division.

The Oxenhope bowlers made an early start into the Bridgeholme batting with four wickets down for 25 runs before Hassan Mahmood (24) and Mohammed Basharat (43) established a progressive stand.

The accurate Liam Dyson shouldered most of the work with 15 overs in the heat taking 2-49 supported by Scott Malinson (3-34).

Sajad Mahmood (25 not out) and Awais Khalid (34) provided some late impetuous but the visitors were restricted to 174-9 in the 40 overs allotted.

Josh Fleetwood (33) and Eddie Jackson (25) provided a good start before three quick wickets gave the Bridgeholme some hope.

Those hopes were quickly extinguished as Lewis Hopkinson (58no) and Joe Ousey (50no) blasted their way to victory in just 27 overs.

Meanwhile, the early start suited Oxenhope seconds who had a bit more strength in the bowling.

Hamzah Kahn with seven overs for just 10 runs and Johnny Holden six overs for 14, kept it tight early on and taking a wicket each.

But it was returning skipper Luke Fleetwood who did the damage ripping out the upper order with a superb spell of 6.4 overs 6-26 as the home side were dismissed for just 85 in just under 26 overs.

The visitors' reply got off to a terrible start with four batsmen back in the hutch and just 12 runs on the board.

However, Khan (42no) demonstrated his all-round skills and along with Rohid Ali (36no) cruised past the total in just 14 overs with 89-4.
