A GROUP of eight athletes from the Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure's (BDSL) athletics team, based at UAK in Keighley dominated the National Athletics Championship in Doncaster.
The following athletes achieved the following: Dylan Lightowler: gold - long jump, 100m bronze, 200m bronze; Robbie Cliffe: 100m seventh place, 200m seventh, 400m sixth, long jump silver;
James Crossley: gold - shot putt, 100m ninth, 200m ninth, 800m fifth place, Mohammed Qureshi (Az): 800m fourth, 1,500m silver; Nathan Mitchell: 100m bronze, 200m bronze, 400m bronze, triple jump gold; Mollie Gaddas: 100m gold, 200m gold, 400m silver, long jump silver; Nathan O’Mara: 100m silver, 200m silver, 400m bronze, long jump fifth; Harry Bowness: 100m fourth, 800m fourth, 5,000m silver, long jump seventh.
Meanwhile, a team of 20 athletes and coaches from BDSL took part in the regional athletics at the City of York last month.
Their appearance produced the biggest return in medals the club has seen. Their impressive haul featured 21 gold medals, 17 silvers and 17 bronzes.
There were seven fourth places, two fifth places and one sixth-placed finish.
