BRADFORD (Park Avenue) manager Mark Bower was frustrated that his side "threw the game away" at home to Bradford City last night, but overall he was pleased with what his side produced.

Avenue went ahead after 22 minutes when a trialist bundled home Ryan Toulson's cross from the right, and they were ahead for most of the contest.

However, Luca Colville and Tom Clare's late goals won it for the League One side. After the game, Bower said: "We always want to win and it was frustrating that we threw the game away at the end.

"We got a lot out of the game though and there were a lot of positives to take from it. The players looked sharper and they were more fluent going forward with the ball than they have been."

Avenue visit Campion at midday on Saturday and their manager knows that game presents a totally different challenge.

He said: "With Bradford City, it was a case of showing the club off and our decent pitch. We're hoping that they'll come back next year.

"Campion present a different test in unfashionable surroundings, and it'll be a more difficult pitch to play on. It's good to get those tests though as we could face a team like them in cup competition this season."

In terms of his players, Bower said: "There'll be rotation for Campion and some of the players who only got 20 minutes tonight will get more there.

"In the games after that against Huddersfield Town (Academy) and Barrow, we need to push on and look at players getting 90 minutes under their belts so we're ready for the opening league game against Brackley Town."

Campion prepared for their clash with Avenue by securing a narrow win at Silsden. A tight game was decided when Talent Ndlovu and Danny Brown struck for the visitors twice in quick succession late in the second half.

Silsden's captain Josh Kaine pulled one back and Campion did well to survive an onslaught in the final ten minutes to claim victory.

Silsden entertain a Halifax Town XI next Tuesday while Steeton host Leeds City at Cougar Park this Saturday.
