Oxenhope 253-6

Shelf Northowaram HT 131 all out

OXENHOPE returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Shelf Northowaram in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League Premier Division.

The home side batted first and Ramsden soon had both openers back in the hutch. But Tom Mawer found some form on his way to 44 and Lewis Hopkinson accompanied him with 48.

The dominant innings, however, came from skipper Josh Tetley, who also has found runs hard to come by of late, but blasted his way to 78 not out including seven sixes.

Eddie Burke made his usual contribution with 24no as Oxenhope closed on 253, assisted by 26 extras.

For the visitors, Reynolds took three wickets alongside Ramsden's two.

A promising start from Cole (32) and Talbot (18) was broken up by Lewis Hopkinson's first ball of his only over and the first of Duncan Tetley's five wickets.

Saghir promised with 22 before falling to Tetley and Hemmingway was spectacularly run out by Lewis Hopkinson for 19 to end any real hopes of an away victory.

Tetley continued to remove batsmen on his way to an excellent return of 5-31 and Liam Dyson cleaned up the late order with 3-18, the visitors finishing on just 131 to give Oxenhope the full 12 points and move them up to fifth in the table.

Meanwhile, after the previous week's encouraging win, Oxenhope seconds lost to high-flying Shelf-Northowaram.

Batting first the visitors showed early promise with Luke Fleetwood (31), Rohid Ali (26) and Hamzah Khan (23) all getting starts but failing to capitalise, as Pritchard claimed three of the first four dismissals.

A promising stand between Andrew Whitehead (30no) and Spencer Hurd (27) was the last significant contribution as the last four wickets fell for just 13 runs. Pritchard and Priestley also collecting three wickets as the total stalled at 164.

In reply, Coles (24) and Hussain (37) moved the score on quickly to 63 before Johnny Holden intervened with the second of his four wickets.

Further wickets fell as the home side teetered on 77-5, but Pritchard (37no) and Gledhill (34no) proved immovable as the home side passed the total with 166-6.
