ANOTHER high-scoring encounter at Triangle produced 711 runs and saw Oxenhope just fail in their brave bid to chase the home side's daunting 377-9.

They were eventually bowled out for 334 to lose by 43 runs on a tough afternoon for the bowlers in the Spenser Wilson Halifax League clash.

Triangle batted first and runs came all down the order with their top scorers being Christian Silkstone (74), Chris Metcalf (60) and Carl Fletcher (62).

The Oxenhope bowlers stuck to their task and Joel Fothergill was rewarded with three wickets and Liam Dyson took four.

The Oxenhope team also had good contributions right down the order with Eddie Jackson (83) and Chris Kibble (32) getting the innings off to a great start.

Tom Mawer (41), Lewis Hopkinson (24) and Bonny Fielden (44) kept the chase going before captain Josh Tetley continued his improved run of form with a fine knock of 70 to put the visitors in with a chance of a remarkable victory.

An earlier injury to the inform Duncan Tetley prevented him from batting.

Oxenhope 2nd Xi came out comfortable victors in their relegation tussle with Southowram that now leaves them nine points clear of the drop zone.

The Oxenhope innings was dominated by a superb century from Craig Bartlett (105).

Luke Fleetwood with 45 at the top of the order and Spencer Hurd with 37 not out guided them to a total of 254 in their 45 overs.

Mohammed Usman, who hit five sixes in his 45, was the only Southowram batsman to threaten the Oxenhope bowlers.

Despite the best efforts of Hamzah Khan (3-38) an outright victory never looked possible as Southowram finished on 191-6, but the 10-point win may yet be significant.
