SETTLE capitalised on home advantage as they won this year’s Ingleborough Trophy.

They overcame Kirkby Lonsdale, Casterton and Bentham to win the team contest.

Settle finished 11 points clear of second-placed Kirkby Lonsdale.

Earlier in the year lady members, Janet Lassey and Corrine Beck, competed in the Settle area 4 ball better ball Ping national qualifier.

They produced an outstanding round of golf, coming in with an exceptional 45 stableford points.

This result was good enough to put them into the national event held at the Ping headquarters in Lincolnshire where the Settle pair again excelled. Their 39 points gave them a top-20 finish.

A number of Settle’s competitions have come to a conclusion. The men's doubles was won by Mike Elstub and Patrick Daley who overcame the much-fancied pairing of Steve Robinson and Chris Ward.

Ward made up for this disappointment by defeating Chris Sharp in the final of the club singles.

Ward also added to his extensive collection of trophies by winning the Huntworth Trophy on the Captain's trip to Silverdale.

The Centenary Cup was won by Peter Wroe whose 35 points gave him a comfortable victory over his closest rival, Steve Robinson.
