KEIGHLEY Albion Ladies have nothing to lose and everything to gain in their Coral Women's Challenge Cup quarter-final after receiving national exposure, according to their boss.

The League One side, who play their home games at Crossflatts Cricket Club, have been drawn against Super League outfit Wakefield Trinity in the competition's last eight.

Albion's name came out of the hat during the draw broadcast on the BBC's red button at Odsal following Bradford Bulls' men's side's Challenge Cup defeat to Halifax on Sunday.

Albion Ladies are the lowest-ranked side left in the cup after they grabbed a 50-9 second round win over Halifax last month.

Their reward is another home tie, this time against Wakefield, on Sunday, June 23 (2pm kick-off). Entrance free.

Albion's team manager, Sarah Lancaster, says her side are revelling on their underdog status so far this season as they continue to defy the odds in the competition.

Lancaster said: "What a draw, we're pleased with it.

"They are all Super League teams left apart from us.

"We've got a home fixture against Wakefield which is the best we could have hoped for. Wakefield are used to a flat pitch, they won't be used to the slope, that we call the hill, at Crossflatts.

"The Wakefield players train twice a week and ours do it as recreation and to go out for a drink on a Sunday night. It's a clash of fitness.

"We normally get a couple of hundred people to watch us. A lot of people would have seen our name called out on TV for the draw, it seems strange. It's good for Keighley being on TV and hearing the town's name.

"We are the underdogs in this one. We've got heart and soul.

"We've got a lot more people coming to watch our league games. People didn't realise it was such a high standard. We will try to build on this team.

"If we don't win then we have played a Super League team. Wakefield train three or four times a week. If we lose, then we have lost on a high, it's 'so what?', we've done well.

"That is our next game. We have no games before then. We might try to arrange a friendly before then."

Albion Ladies is open to all females from 16 years old.
