FOLLOWING on from the capture of new skipper Scott Etherington, Keighley Cricket Club have moved quickly in the transfer market again to secure the services of opening batsman Billy Whitford, who has made the move from rivals Undercliffe.

The opening batsmen and quick bowler is already well known to Keighley having played in their junior set up.

At only 22, Whitford can already say he has seen it and done it; as a product of the Yorkshire Academy who has also represented West Yorkshire at district level and the Taverners/Joe Lumb for the Bradford Junior Cricket League.

Whitford, who is also a qualified junior and senior cricket coach, has experienced Bradford Premier League Premier Division cricket at New Farnley and Undercliffe and comes to Keighley with great expectations.

He cannot wait to start the 2022 campaign and in his own words, "coming back and representing my hometown club at senior level", was the driving factor behind his move to Lawkholme.

Keighley chairman Paul Barker enthused: "The likes of Scott and Billy joining has had a positive impact.

"I went down to nets the other night, and there were over 20 players there, which is the most I've seen for a long time."

Keighley have also announced the date of their Annual General Meeting, which is to be held at the club on Tuesday, February 22, meeting for 7pm with a 7:30pm start; all members are welcome.
