SILSDEN came out on top in their derby at Steeton on Saturday.

It was a fiercely-contested first half, with the two sides going in level.

But the Cobbydalers showed why there are a tier higher in the Non League System after the break, scoring three goals without reply to win 4-1.

Confusion at the back 15 minutes in allowed Luke Brooksbank to pounce on the loose ball and crash Silsden in front.

But not long afterwards, Andy Briggs latched on to a through ball and slotted the ball home to level for Steeton.

Silsden then hit the bar, attempting to lob Jordan Moorhouse, before Steeton saw a Jack Lynn header cleared off the line right on half-time.

It was still level with 25 minutes to go, but with new Steeton signing Ben Driffield caught out of position, Lamin Janneh pounced.

He slipped in, got round Moorhouse, before finishing into the empty net.

Another miscommunication at the back, this time between Alistair Morgan and Moorhouse, allowed Janneh in again.

He snuck into the gap the Steeton pair had left and slotted the ball home for his second of the game.

Moorhouse compounded a poor afternoon by allowing a long-range effort to slip through his hands for 4-1.

And in more bad news for Steeton with the start of the season just days away, Briggs limped off injured late on.
