IT was a case of deja vu all over again for Silsden last night, as they earned a third 1-1 draw in the space of a week.

A poor second half of the season has seen them slide out of promotion contention and down into mid-table in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

But they have now stopped the losing rot at least, with this result last night at home to a strong Barton Town side their fifth draw in six games.

Barton are seventh in the table for a reason, and they started brightly, forcing Hagie Damba into a couple of good early saves.

It was little surprise when they took the lead 13 minutes in, a throw-in dropping to the back post for Harrison Coley to slot into the net.

But Silsden were awarded a penalty just five minutes later following a foul in the area by Tom Davie.

Ellis Hudson made no mistake from the spot to bring the Cobbydalers level.

Silsden began to get on top thereafter, with Joe Crosby going close twice, the second a long-range effort which was tipped behind by Ryan Musselwhite.

But a mistake at the back allowed Henry Parr in for Barton on the stroke of half-time, only for Damba to save well again.

The Cobbydalers started the second half brightly, with Luke Brooksbank firing a shot against the post and Jack Normaton having an effort well saved by Musselwhite following great work from Crosby.

Barton saw Sam Cable sent off with 10 minutes to go, as he appeared to raise his hands in a bit of afters with Jacob Smith following a hefty challenge.

But the Cobbydalers were unable to produce one last push against 10-men, and had to settle for a point.

With three games to go, Silsden have a tricky home clash against fourth-placed Garforth Town up next.
