Keighley were unlucky with the weather on Saturday on their visit to Windhill.

Batting first Windhill scored 192 for eight in their 50 overs but then the match was delayed by rain after tea, which meant that Keighley had only 44 overs to bat to achieve a win. Windhill also could have won had they bowled Keighley out.

As it was, Keighley scored 177 for nine which meant that the match was deemed to be abandoned and the two teams each earned two points plus any batting and bowling points gained, which was seven each.

Although they gained a total of nine points Keighley lost ground on league leaders Idle and second placed Farsley, who both won on Saturday.

Undercliffe, who were in fourth place, were beaten by Bankfoot, who are now in that position, as they closed the gap to six points behind Keighley.

Keighley had Windhill struggling on 98 for six before Iqbal Khan (47 not out) and Sadaqat Zaman (44) put on a solid seventh-wicket partnership to take the home side to 192 for eight.

Ross Towler and Richard Robinson were the pick of the Keighley bowlers. Towler took three for 40 in 15 overs and notched up five maidens while Robinson took two for 45 in 14 overs and had four maidens.

In their rain-shortened reply no Keighley batsman scored a big total. However they did have several score in double figures as they reached 177.

Matthew Bottomley was the top scorer with 28, while Andrew Waggett and Max Davidson scored 26 each. Towler scored 25 before being run out and Robinson, Stephen Reape and Stuart Ratcliffe chipped in with 17, 15 and 13 runs respectively.

This Saturday Keighley return home to take on Undercliffe. Then on Sunday they are away to bottom side Hartshead Moor, who have won only once this season.

Second team Keighley seconds played a double header league programme at Lawkholme Lane at the weekend, winning against Pudsey Congs on Saturday but then drawing against Baildon on Sunday.

On Saturday, Keighley's lively batting and the bowling of Ashley Robinson helped the home side to a 104-run victory against the Congs.

Batting first Keighley scored 277 for seven and were buoyed by the batting of Allen Birkett and Tim Burnley. Birkett top scored with a 92 off 87 balls, in a knock that included ten fours and two sixes.

Burnley hit 67 off 60 balls and he smashed nine fours and one six.

In reply, Pudsey's innings was stunted by by the bowling of Robinson, who took eight wickets in his 13 overs. He conceded 36 runs and had four maidens.

They closed on 173 all out as James Bragg top scored with 48.

On Sunday Keighley's second team had the same problem as the club's first team on Saturday.

Keighley and Baildon each got seven points in the weather-affected match, which saw the visitors score 197 for nine in 50 overs.

Alex Towler did the damage with the ball for Keighley as he took five for 60 in 13 overs. Andrew Coppen also bowled 15 tidy overs where he took two wickets and conceded just 33 runs and had four maidens.

In reply Keighley only had 39 overs to bat in their innings as opener Alan Broadley top scored for the Lawkholme Lane lads with an unbeaten 72. Liam Dyson scored 28 before being run out and Ashley Robinson hit 21 not out as Keighley closed on 137 for four.

This Saturday Keighley seconds are away to bottom side Farsley. On Sunday they host second placed Esholt.
