The runs were flowing again in the Mewies Solicitors Craven and District Cricket League with 12 scores in excess of 200 and four centurians, despite rain putting in a brief appearance.

First Division leaders Crossflatts made the journey to Booth Bridge Lane and received a hammering for their troubles. Thornton went first and were wobbling on 50 for four when David Holt joined Andrew Jaggers and the pair took the game away from the visitors by putting on 198 for the fifth wicket. Jaggers made a fantastic 118 and Holt 83 to help the score to a mammoth 277 for eight. Mick Brooksbank took three for 13 off three overs. Flatts were then dismissed for a paltry 83 in reply with Marc Laycock taking five for 36 and Mark Paxton four for 36.

Bradley take over top spot after their narrow four-run victory at Sandy Lane. The South Craveners went first and posted 153 with Aussie Ben Hall making 51 and Neil Robinson 49 as Feyaz Akram bowled well to finish with eight for 52. Sandy Lane were always in the hunt but lost wickets regularly and closed on 149 for eight.

Glusburn join Crossflatts and Thornton on 18 points after a nervy two-wicket win over visitors Oakworth. The Cure Hill side stumbled from 104 for three to 126 for nine before Robert Hopkinson, who had retired hurt, was joined by last man Ian Jackson and they pushed the score to 151 before the former was out for 23 with the latter being 19 not out. Steve Filkin was the pick of the bowlers with six for 38. Sean Williamson (36) and Russell Newton (26) had pushed the Park Field side to 106 for seven but they were rocking. Then Nigel Hargreaves (19) and Aussie Jason Cruse took the score to 140 and then Cruse and Filkin saw them home in the 41st over.

Cullingworth's visit to Cowling turned out to be fruitful. The home side went first and the highlight of the first 24 overs was the battle between South African Brannon Varley, with ball, and Steve Mitchell, with the bat, which the latter won on points.

When Mitchell went for 59 to spinner Dave Hall to make it 116 for three, it was all down hill. The innings closed on 158 with Hall finishing with six for 24 off 10.3 overs. The Roydwood Terrace side opened up with 78 for the first wicket and breezed to a six-wicket victory in the 40th over. Nigel Brett made 41 and Steve Welch 34.

Embsay skipper Simon Bailey followed last week's ton with 103, which included 12 fours, and together with John Hillary, 48, put on 105 for fifth wicket. The Shires Lane innings closed on 200 for six. The Bull Holme skipper, Liam Roberts, and Aussie Benno Schliker were making steady progress to the required total. Just after the 100 was brought up both perished - Roberts for 53 and Schliker for 45, and the home side just had the edge to restrict their opponents to 181 for nine with Duncan Ward taking four for 58 and Bailey three for 68.

The only game to be affected by the weather was Bingley Congs at home to Cononley which ended in a time draw. Mark Paynter top scored with 36 as the visitors made 174 in their innings after being 107 for eight. Euan Scarr hit 32 not out late on as Adie Dibb took for for 41 and Chris Hemsley bowled through to finish with four for 85. Bingley's innings had reached 164 for eight after 42 overs when time was called. Chris Dibb scored 54 and Adie Dibb 30 not out.

Leaders of the Second Division, Haworth Road, were in good form at home to Sutton. The Baildon Bottom side racked up 212 for seven with Chris Griggs, in the runs yet again, making 66 and Charlie Hainsworth 54 as Stephen Doane took all seven wickets to fall for 53. The South Craveners could only muster 103 in reply as Shami Ali took four for 12.

Haworth are four points behind in second place. They had few problems seeing off Ingrow St John's at West Lane. The Saints were shot out for 76 by Damien Rowell five for 19 and Jamie Rowell four for 16. D Peel and M Nazir both scored 40 not out as the Bronte side sauntered home by nine wickets in the 17th over.

Chatburn are third another two points behind after they too won by nine wickets. Visitors Denholme were dismissed for 83 with Andy Booth taking six for 36 and Russell Braithwaite four for 35. John Reynolds scored 43 not out as the Ribble Valley took only 14.5 overs to reach their target.

Foulridge's recent good form came to an end when they went down by three wickets at home to Ingrow in a low-scoring game.

Pendle Forest's Andy Townsend was caught in the deep for 98 as his side rattled up 210 for nine in their overs after being 118-7 at one point.

The Windy Grove side were indebted to a 112-run partnership by Steve Wright 52 not out and D Mistry 54 not out, who came together in the 26th over with the score on 100 for four, and batted through to the end in the 43rd over.

Airedale slip into the bottom two after losing at Long Lee who move above them. The valley bottom side had Matthew Gill 70 to thank mainly for their 164 all out. Paul Stowell (70) and Matt Taylor (33) helped the hill toppers to the points.

Glusburn II leaders of the Third Division were made to work for the points at Oakworth in a high-scoring game. The Park Field side rattled up 234 for nine in their innings with Micky Baxter (74) leading the way helped by Michael Hebden (57) and Alan Coney (39). In the Cure Hill side's reply of 216 for eight the highlight was a super knock of 107 by 16-year-old opener Luke Taylor.

Long Lee II are four points adrift after they edged to a nervy four-run victory down at bottom side Airedale II. The Golden View side made 123 as H Aslam took five for 34 and Giles Wilmore five for 44. Whilst Trevor Cox was at the wicket the home side had a chance but when he was wheedled out for 48 in the 44th over the pendulum swung back to Long Lee and they closed the game out in the 45th over to deny their hosts their first victory. Haz Haider bowled through to finish with five for 45.

Skipton CI are still in the promotion race after they beat Ingrow St John's II by two wickets at Street Lane.

Cowling II romped to a nine-wicket win at Ramper Park. They dismissed Carleton for 110 then romped home with 14-year-old Amjay Hussain scoring 55 to set Cowling on the way to the points.

Gargrave beat Haworth Road II by three wickets at Skipton Road and Embsay II travelled to Barrow-ford II and won by 48 runs. Naz Hussain scored 61, Josh Robinson 41 and Robin Youngman 37 for the winners as Mark Atkinson took four for 45 for the losers.

The battle for top spot in the Fourth Division comes to a head this Saturday as Riddlesden take on Eldwick & Gilstead at Stockbridge. The Keighley side have a one-point lead. They travelled to Ingrow II and restricted them to 151 for nine in their overs, with Adie Stokes making 55 and Nick Hoyle 50 as Adam Khan claimed four for 21. Khan was top scorer with 43 as the visitors got home by one wicket, with J Holden taking four for 12.

Meanwhile Eldwick & Gilstead were at home to Haworth II pegged back to 116 for eight in their overs. R Hunsworth with 49 saw the Dick Hudson's side to the points by five wickets.

Matt Buckmaster (67), Matt Clarkson (54) and Chris Brookes (50) saw Bradley II to a formidable 261 for six at home to Sandy Lane II. The visitors were never in the hunt and perished for 131 as Andy Holmes claimed five for 48. The win lifts Bradley II out of the bottom two.

Nick Wood (58) and Nick Coward (43) were the main run-getters as Crossflatts II made 187 for six as veteran Brian Laycock took four for 64. Visitors Thornton II were knocked over for 118 with evergreen Bob Scott have the best bowling return of three for 31.

Cullingworth II repelled visitors Chatburn II to win by three wickets. Russell Hogg (6-37), Martin Rendell (51) and Andy Humble (53 not out) were the stars for the winners.

Pendle Forest II suffered a 97-run drubbing at the hands of visitors Haworth West End. The Bronte side crashed 207 for seven with Tinashe Gomwe making a stylish 81. The Fence side closed on 110 as Andy Benfield took four for 24 and Chris Benfield three for 27.

Wilsden II are now the sole leaders of the Fifth Division after they beat Riddlesden II by 39 runs and Bingley Congs II lost by 72 runs at Cononley II. Matthew Hagyard (5-16) and Andy Town (5-47) shot the visitors out for 64, which was in reply to the home side's 136 of which Dale Mason scored 51.

Glusburn III slip in to second spot following their two-wicket win at Sutton II in a high-scoring game. Gary Williams made 109 not out as the home side scored 206 for eight. The visitors scorched to victory.

Oakworth III were never in the hunt and went down by 71 runs at Denholme II and Skipton CI II slumped to a 42-run defeat at home to Eldwick & Gilstead II.

Pendle Forest III went down by 63 runs at home to Gargrave II. J Beckwith (74 and 4-27), and Will Stanley (3-19) were the stars.

Finally Haworth WE II rattled up 248 for six in their innings with Tony Dimuantes making 64 not out, Graham Aldred 51 and the ageless George Stubley 50. Visitors Foulridge II made a spirited reply of 194 with Fred Brooker-Carey making 41, R Farnworth 54 as Steve McLennon took five for 33.
