KEIGHLEY Cricket Club have consolidated fifth spot in Division Two of the Bradford Premier League, as they won by three wickets at bottom of the table Wrenthorpe on Saturday.

Opening bowler Ijaz Ahmed was the star man with the ball for the visitors, as he took 2-25 from 11 economical overs.

Scott Etherington chipped in with 2-54 as Wrenthorpe posted 156-7 from the 39 overs possible in their innings.

Keighley were subsequently set a DLS target of 169 from 39 overs, and despite Mohammad Shahnawaz hitting 42 and Johandre Barnard scoring a quickfire 33, they soon found themselves in trouble.

The visitors slipped from a position of strength at 51-1 to 126-7, and it took Etherington’s 52 not out to see them over the line, as he put on an unbroken 45 for the eighth wicket with Wasim Hussain (13no).

Keighley's seconds are fifth in Reserves Division Two too, but their game against leaders Sandal did not last long at the weekend.

The clash at Lawkholme Lane was called off in the 24th over, with visitors Sandal on 96-2.
