With the entire first and second teams league programme wiped out because of the rainy weather on Saturday, that meant only the third teams were able get a game at the weekend.

Steeton's third team were away to Calverley on Sunday and suffered their first loss of the season.

Calverley won the toss and chose to bat first but Ross Suri (1-57) got Steeton off to a good start when he broke the opening partnership with just nine runs on the board. A fortnight after his century against Steeton's first team, Calverley's Lee scored 61 runs before he was well caught by Suri from the accurate bowling of Danny Hanson (2-24).

For Calverley Ward finished unbeaten on 90 as their innings closed on 214 for five.

Without the batting of usual skipper Alex Howarth and Phil Barrett, Steeton knew they would have to all perform well to get any points from the match.

Their cause was not helped when stand-in skipper David Hedges was farcically run out with the score on just 12 runs.

His opening partner Jack Pearson top scored with 31 before he too was run out.

After Steeton were reduced to 59 runs for six after 18 overs, a fine 39-run seventh wicket stand between James Emmott (24) and Zach Pearson (25) helped rebuild the Steeton innings. Despite a fine ninth-wicket stand of 23 between Pearson and Danny Austick Steeton finished on 126 all out.

Steeton receive no points and Calverley strengthened their position at the top of the conference.

This Saturday Steeton and Silsden's first teams have tough games. In a table top clash Silsden travel to league leaders Knaresborough and Steeton are away to Follifoot.
