THE Keighley Cricket Academy concluded its winter coaching sessions at Carlton Keighley at the weekend.

They proved to be hugely popular with boys and girls and offered top cricket training for youngsters from the ages of six to 16.

A presentation was held during the last session and was attended by Councillor Mohsin Hussain and Councillor Amjid Zaman.

Councillor Hussain said: “KCA is very close to my heart as I was also part of these sessions many years ago.

“It is great to see everyone having so much fun and it is good to see girls also participating and learning new skills.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers and coaches for the excellent work they do and offer my support to their efforts.”

Councillor Zaman added: “KCA only exists due to the tireless efforts of volunteers, including the coaches who dedicate their time, efforts, and energy in providing these sessions.

“They teach important skills such as teamwork, kindness and playing cricket safely.”

Also, on Sunday, the Academy held the finals of their six-a-side indoor tournament which was supported by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.

This was a hugely popular indoor event that lasted for six weeks and the winning team, Mirpur Royals, along with runners up, Adam CC, were presented with trophies from Councillor Mohammed Nazam.

He said: “I’m very honoured to be here to present the trophies.

“KCA has been doing exceptional work in the community to bring everyone together. They have shown amazing commitment and dedication.

“Congratulations to you all, especially the winning team, Mirpur Royals”

KCA chairman Sarwar Kamal thanked all the coaching staff and parents for their support with this venture and praised the local teams and players who supported the tournament.

The Academy will be organising further coaching sessions for the summer along with other courses for scorers, umpires and coaches.
