ULTIMATE Pool is holding its inaugural British Open this weekend, with one of the finest players from the Bradford District in action.

Chris Melling, a former world champion from Keighley, gets his campaign underway this afternoon against Welshman Andrew Lewis.

The first round clash between Melling and Lewis is part of a basic round-of-128 format.

But all players will get a second chance if they lose one game in the first four rounds, with the format only reverting to a straight knockout from the last-16 onwards.

Those finishing in the top 16 will pocket a cool £500 each, with that figure increasing to £1,600 for the semi-finalists.

But the real carrot is for the winner, who will earn £10,000 for taking home the inaugural British Open title.
