Local sport is bracing itself for another whiteout this weekend.
With many grounds blanketed in six inches of snow and with temperatures set to plunge as low as minus seven on Friday night, the outlook is bleak.
The first snow of the winter led to widespread postponements last weekend.
All 26 football matches in the Craven League were called off, along with Silsden’s Vodkat League game at home to Alsager. No Keighley district sides played in the West Riding County Amateur League or West Yorkshire League.
Rugby Union was badly hit as Keighley’s trip to North Ribblesdale was frozen off. Just one game was played in Naional League One and only two matches went ahead in the Yorkshire leagues.
Keighley are not hopeful that their home game with Yorkshire One leaders Malton & Norton will go ahead on Saturday.
Having not been able to train on Tuesday, the club have yet to announce a squad for the match and were due to name one tonight when the players train indoor. Keighley seconds are due to visit Moortown seconds and the thirds are scheduled to visit Skipton seconds on Saturday but, again, both matches are not expected to beat the freeze.
Just five matches went ahead out of 40 in Amateur Rugby League’s Pennine League.
