Keighley’s first team saw victory snatched from their grasp by Morley – but there were more heroics from teenager Amjid Hussain as the seconds beat leaders East Bierley.

He scored a rapid unbeaten century just a week after a taking a hat-trick against Idle.

At Lawkholme Lane, it looked like Ross Towler’s side were on course for their third win on the spin after triumphs over Lightcliffe and Bankfoot.

Chasing Morley’s total of 184 all out, Keighley were 133-3 but then lost their last seven wickets for 17 to squander the good work of Richard Robinson (51) and Imran Patel (47).

Teenage bowler Chris Rodwell (4-7) and skipper Dave Nebard (4-33) sparked their rapid decline.

Earlier, overseas player Kashif Naveed (73) and Neil Johnson (57) were the stand-out batsmen for Morley, who also suffered a collapse.

They lost nine wickets for 64 runs, having been 120-1 as Paul Quinlan (6-41) produced a fine spell of bowling.

Keighley remain third – 49 points behind Lightcliffe – ahead of Saturday’s trip to Idle.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Hussain is making quite a name for himself in Keighley’s second team.

He blasted an unbeaten 111 off only 52 balls as his side defeated table-toppers Bierley by six wickets.

Chasing the home side’s total of 217-8, Keighley’s task looked a tough one when they slumped to 63-4.

But Hussain raced to his 50 off just 23 balls and continued to punish the Bierley bowlers as he and Callum Jones (36no) saw their side home with more than 21 overs to spare.

Hussain hit 12 fours and eight sixes to stun the hosts and leave fourth-placed Keighley just 14 points behind them and the second promotion spot.

Earlier, Bierley were indebted to skipper Matthew Anderson (82no) for their total. Keighley’s best bowlers were Hammy Shezad (3-51) and Alex Towler (3-65).

Keighley II have a free weekend coming up.

l Haworth Road secured the Bradford Evening League Division One title at Denholme’s expense after their win at Baildon Meths.

Coming in at 50-3, Mohammed Zahid made 45 not out to help the away side to 106-5 off 16 overs.

Baildon got off to a steady start but the introduction of past league winner Andrew Gudgeon, who took three key wickets, saw the impetus swing the visitors’ way.

A resilient 29 not out from home skipper Darren Wilson was not enough as his team finished on 86-7.

Haworth Road finished level on points with Denholme and both teams had the same number of wins, so Charlie Hainsworth’s side won the title by virtue of having the better average.

Luke Holroyd (51no) and Scott Etherington (48no) secured a ten-wicket win for Windhill over Sandy Lane.
