Leeds United player White is special guest at Oakworth charity match

Leeds United left back Aidan White will be the special guest at the inaugural Sue Hewitt Memorial Trophy at Oakworth Juniors on Sunday, September 2 (kick-off 1pm).

The match at Bronte Fields – being held as a tribute to Sue, who dedicated much of her time to the club, particularly in their early days – will help raise funds for Manorlands.

The hospice in Oxenhope was where Sue received care over the last two years and she spent her final days there before passing away in April.

White will present the trophy – dedicated by the Hewitt family – after the match, which will be between the current coaches at Oakworth and a Sue’s XI – a team of friends, family and old players who knew Sue well.

Each player will pay £10 and the initial aim is to raise £500 annually for Manorlands thro-ugh staging the trophy encounter every year.

Otley-born White went to school in Menston and play-ed for England under-19s before switching allegiance to play for Republic of Ireland under-21s.

He signed a new three-year deal at Elland Road in the summer.

The event a week on Sunday will be combined with the annual club fund-raising day where all Oakworth’s junior teams take part in friendlies.

A barbecue, bar, tombola, bouncy castle, ducking stool, face-painting stall and raffle will be among the side attractions.

By combining the two events, it is hoped the total raised for Manorlands will be given an extra boost, while also raising club funds.
