Mike Garrod was one of two Silsden players to bag hat-tricks

It was a seven-star performance by Silsden yesterday as they romped to a handsome home win over old rivals St Helens Town in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
The Cobbydalers were cruising to their biggest victory of the season as they went nap even before the break, and the match ball had to be fought over as Mike Garrod and Joe Gaughan both claimed hat-tricks.
The home side started well and it was Gaughan who broke the deadlock in the second minute.
Garrod netted a brace before Gaughan added the Cobbydalers’ fourth but Andy Lee also weighed in with a goal before the interval.
Shaun Judge put the visitors on the scoreboard early in the second half but Garrod added his third in the 66th minute and Gaughan claimed his treble two minutes from time.
