Mike Garrod hits hat-trick form for Silsden

Silsden climbed one place to eighth in the North West Counties League Premier Division as a Mike Garrod hat-trick eased them to victory over Ashton Athletic.

The Cobbydalers came under attack midway through the first half but keeper Edward Hall launched a counter which culminated with Garrod getting a chance to shoot and he did not disappoint.

He added a second goal just before the break when he was the first to react to a loose ball in the area.

Garrod’s treble could have come in the first half as only a fine save from the Ashton keeper foiled him following a neat through-ball from Kevin Sanasy.

A Sanasy free-kick, tipped over by the visiting keeper, led to the 75th-minute corner that Garrod converted for his treble.

Substitute James Nanje-Ngoe then lashed in a fourth for the home side six minutes from time.
