Silsden 0, Congleton Town 0

There were no goals at the Angel Telecom Stadium as Silsden hosted Congleton Town but there was plenty of entertainment for the crowd.

Cobbydalers spokesman Jim Rosser said: “We didn’t have the quality to put the ball in the net but it was good game. The only disappointment was the number of bookings there were.

“Danny Gleave got a yellow card in the first minute and he was one of five we had booked and Congleton had five booked.

“Gleave’s was a yellow card offence, to be fair, but a lot of the others weren’t and it certainly wasn’t that sort of game.”

Josh McNulty went close for Silsden early on but only found the side-netting.

“Some of the best chances the home side had fell to young forward Will Storrie, who was only in the starting line-up because Lee McGowan was suspended.

Storrie shot just wide early on and just failed to steer the ball past the visitors’ keeper when one on one with him later in the first half.

An Andy Hill corner was headed clear by Town’s Chris Middleton but his team-mate Michael Koral had an overhead kick cleared by the home side’s Ben Crabtree.

The second half saw Storrie and Koral both foiled by the respective keepers but the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock would have been an own goal.

A cross from Cobbydalers substitute Mikey Hall was headed just wide of his own goal by Town defender Andy Alston eight minutes from time.
