Silsden Ladies 2 Keighley Oaks Ladies 3

Two goals in the last ten minutes saw Keighley turn defeat into victory and claim local bragging rights.

Silsden were disappointed not to claim at least a share of the points after leading 2-1 but goals from Kirsty Delaney and Becky Granger saw Oaks come away with the derby spoils.

The opening exchanges were pretty even, although the visitors looked more dangerous up front and the Cobbydalers defenders had to be at the top of their game, with Kate Perfect pulling off a couple of good saves.

Silsden fell behind on 26 minutes when Natasha Mulligan’s drive into the box was spilled and Rachel Holdsworth pounced on the loose ball and slotted into the empty net.

Georgie Smith brought a good save from the Oaks keeper but Silsden struggled to find any cohesion up front against a strong defence, marshalled well by skipper Sophie Gaines.

The second half started with the Cobbydalers pushing forward in a more determined mood as they sought the equaliser but they came up against an Oaks keeper in sparkling form.

Smith, who was now creating havoc with her mazy runs, was thwarted twice by the diminutive No 1 and Jane Newell and Harriet Pickles were also denied by excellent saves.

However, she could do nothing about the home side’s equaliser on 62 minutes when Nicola Leng took an astute pass from Smith, sidestepped a challenge and unleashed a shot from the edge of the penalty area which found the top corner of the net.

Two minutes later, Silsden were awarded a penalty when Newell’s cross was judged to have been handled in the area. Midfielder Nic Frankland, who was Silsden’s player of the match, powered home the spot-kick to nose the hosts in front.

Keighley were clearly rattled by the turnaround and now found themselves on the back foot.

A one-on-one chance for Silsden was blasted wide and Oaks made them pay when, with ten minutes remaining, they equalised.

Granger set up Delaney, who curled a great effort round the keeper from 20 yards to make it 2-2.

A draw looked on the cards but, on 85 minutes, Oaks snatched a winner.

Their player of the match Granger tried her luck from distance and her shot found the back of the net after a deflection off Rebecca Brown.

Oaks host top-of-the-table Farsley on Sunday (1.30pm).
