SOMETHING will have to give on Saturday when Oxenhope Recreation Thirds visit Grindleton Reserves on Saturday in the Mastab's Craven League Second Division.

Both teams are sitting proudly at the top of the table with six points from two matches, Oxenhope's second victory being a 2-1 midweek derby win over Polonia in which both teams received five yellow cards, Pizemyslaw Witch getting two for the Poles.

The visitors took the lead on 40 minutes when central defender Grez Jackson brought down Polonia's striker in the box and Krysztof Wojtylak made no mistake from the resulting penalty.

Minutes later, Andy Fox equalised, getting on the end of a Nivard Trowers’ free-kick, and after the break Oxenhope got on top.

On 75 minutes, man of the match Ellis Atha, who was a constant threat down the left, cut into the box and was brought down, Fox dispatching the spot-kick.

In the same division, Broomhill gave a much-improved display, drawing 2-2 with rivals Sporting Keighley at Marley on Saturday.

Broomhill made a number of changes from the team who were comprehensively beaten by joint leaders Grindleton the previous week, and Sporting took the lead midway through the first half after a defensive error.

The Sporting striker seized the chance and drove the ball low into the corner from 18 yards but Broomhill hit back immediately when a teasing cross from full back Jamie Greenwood was headed into Sporting's net by their own defender.

With Joe Slater, Patrick King and Tom Hill working tirelessly in midfield to contain the opposition, Broomhill took the lead on the hour, a cross from the right being headed to the edge of the box, where centre back Aaron Whitaker volleyed the ball into the bottom corner.

With both teams having a disappointing first game, it was inevitable that Sporting would come back heavily at Broomhill to avoid a second loss.

With ten minutes left, a save by goalkeeper Jake Yaxley was parried onto a Sporting player and this was deflected off his thigh into the Broomhill net.

Bottom two Sutton and Skipton Town Reserves couldn't manage a goal between them as they crashed 8-0 and 3-0 respectively at leaders Grindleton Reserves and Manningham All Stars.

Cross Hills and Cononley Sports are among the five teams who are yet to lose in the Premier Division, and both featured in 1-1 draws.

Jamie Page was Cross Hills' marksman at Trawden Celtic, while substitute Joel Birks rescued a point for Sports at home to Wilsden Athletic in midweek.

Luke Barker, Kyle Willis and Stephen Wood were on target for Cowling, who got off the mark with a 3-2 home win over Earby Town.

Silsden Whitestar were beaten 2-0 by First Division 100 per centers Gargrave, for whom Cameron Hodge and Liam Jameson netted, while Jordan Blackburn (2) and Robert Watson (2) earned Bradley a 4-4 draw at Hellifield Sports on the same night.

Front-runners Pendle Renegades, on six points alongside Gargrave and Skipton Town, had eight different scorers in their 9-0 home win over bottom club Cononley Sports Reserves last Thursday, while Jonathan Ellison netted for fellow strugglers Ingrow & Worth Valley in their 4-1 home defeat to Chatburn.

Jack Richmond's brace gave Bingley Town a 2-0 victory over visitors Rolls Reserves at the weekend.

Grassington United Reserves are fourth in the Second Division after a 3-3 draw with visitorsEarby Town Reserves, Christian Akrigg, Ben Gannon and James Morgan netting for United's second string.

Third Division front-runners Carleton haven't conceded a goal yet, their latest victory being by 8-0 at home to Bradley Reserves.

Stuart Gee and Benjamin Teal both netted hat-tricks, the tally being made up by Ashley Purnell and Harry Tosney.

However, Bradley Reserves won their first point at the weekend following a 2-2 draw at Barnoldswick Barons.

Cross Hills Reserves drew 5-5 at home to Addingham on Saturday to remain unbeaten, Billy Skelton (3), Callum Lowe and Richard Osadzenko being the marksmen for the reserves, while Kyle Willis' goal earned unbeaten Cowling Reserves a 1-1 draw at Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves.
