CROSS Hills suffered a double blow in the Mastab's Craven League Premier Division.

Not only did they lose their unbeaten record at home to Skipton LMS, but the former leaders dropped to fourth in a tight top six on the back of a 4-2 defeat which sent the visitors top.

With both teams depleted due to injuries and other commitments, the last thing Cross Hills needed was another injury but that is exactly what happened to midfield dynamo Eddie Jenkins in the 26th minute.

Despite LMS having the better of a first half that was littered with fouls, Jamie Page and Ben Dewhirst went close for the hosts, and it wasn't until LMS' Luke Howsen embarked on a mazy run to shoot past Johnny Rampling that the deadlock was broken in the 54th minute.

Howsen's excellent free-kick 14 minutes later looked to have sealed it for the visitors but Dewhirst pegged one back, only for Callum Wootton to make it 3-1 before goals by Jack Wrigglesworth (Cross Hills) and Tom Hunter (LMS) led to an exciting finish.

In contrast, Wilsden Athletic have notched their first win of the campaign, defeating visitors Earby Town 4-1.

Dave McCarten (2), Brendan Folan and James Whitaker were on target for the hosts as they piled on the misery for winless Earby, while two first-half goals sent Cowling, whose man of the match was Luke Barker, on their way to a 3-0 defeat at Trawden Celtic.

Silsden Whitestar are the new front-runners in Division One, but only thanks to a thrilling 4-3 home victory over much-changed Pendle Renegades, who only stay fourth on goal difference.

The hosts went ahead in the first half with a cross-cum-shot from Andy Kay, which bounced over the keeper’s head, and they made it 2-0 with a “worldy” from 30 yards by Mark Bradley but the visitors also found the net before Dom Creed squeezed in a third for Whitestar just before the break.

Silsden, for whom Ben O'Melia was outstanding up front, dominated after the break and Bradley scored again after 75 minutes but the goals they conceded after 82 and 86 minutes made for a nervy finish.

Cononley Sports Reserves, who had conceded 21 goals in three matches, are off the bottom courtesy of a 1-1 draw at home to Rolls Reserves, Stephen Pearson hitting a second-half equaliser for Sports.

The agony continues for Ingrow & Worth Valley, however, who remain pointless after a 2-1 defeat at AFC Colne, despite the efforts of man of the match Ryan Stubbs, while manager Tony Piotrowicz had to come on in the second half for depleted Bradley but it was worth it as they won 2-1 at Bingley Town, Miles Thompson and substitute Keir Nelson netting either side of Bingley's equaliser.

A 79th-minute goal from Mirdstaw Bak earned fifth-placed Polonia a point at leaders Grindleton Reserves in Division Two, man of the match Hubert Nowogrodski grabbing Polonia's earlier goal

Broomhill climbed to fourth, a point behind Grindleton, after a 2-0 victory at Settle United Reserves, man of the match Andrew Tanner opening the scoring after ten minutes with a half volley from six yards following Jake Ward’s corner.

Within ten minutes of the interval, Ward whipped in a free-kick from the right which, after taking a deflection from a Settle defender, crept into the bottom corner for his second goal of the season.

Man of the match Tom Storrie and Billy Skelton were on target for Cross Hills Reserves in their 7-2 Division Three defeat at Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves, while a second-half strike was enough to deny Bradley Reserves any reward at home to Trawden Celtic Reserves.
