Keighley Athletic 4 Park Row Panthers 3
THE Athletes raised themselves from the foot of the table with a thrilling victory over Park Row.
The home side took a while to settle but began to dominate with new signing Aaron Davis giving the visitors a torrid time. Davis firstly chipped adeptly over the Park Row keeper and added a second with an early goal of season contender, cutting in and smashing home from 25 yards via the post.
With Joe Brady also heading home from Andrew Carr's pinpoint corner, Athletic looked comfortable with a three-goal half-time lead.
Park Row responded impressively after the break and often laid siege to the Athletic goal. Their efforts were rewarded with three goals of their own to level matters.
As the game entered the final stages Athletic could easily have folded but, with plenty of spirit, stirred for one final effort. Mick Goodwin fed in the irrepressible Brady, who skipped over one challenge before curling in the winner.
There was still time for goalkeeper Lee Rogers to pull off a brilliant point-blank save to deny Park Row a share of the spoils.
