Silsden 0, 1874 Northwich 2

A GOAL in each half was enough for Northwich to win a tight North West Counties League Division One clash at the Angel Telecom Stadium.

The Cobbydalers had Aaron Hollindrake, who has returned following a spell at neighbours Barnoldswick Town, back in their line-up.

He was involved in an early move that ended with the Northwich keeper making a good save to deny Chris Nicholls.

Hollindrake headed down for Nicholls again but that one was palmed for a corner by the keeper.

The home side had a lot of defending to do from then on, which they did well until the 32nd minute.

The visitors broke the deadlock after Cobbydalers keeper Danny Thorpe punched Jamie Tandy's cross, the loose ball dropping to Matthew Ward and he volleyed home superbly.

Northwich doubled their lead in the 79th minute from a breakaway, with Matthew Beadle slotting a low shot under Thorpe.

Silsden press officer Jim Rosser said: "It could have gone either way but they were more experienced and took their chances.

"Northwich are on a 14-game unbeaten run and have really moved up the league and you can see why with that good possession football they play."
