Alliance Division One

Boroughbridge Reserves 3 Oxenhope Reserves 0

Alliance Division One leaders Oxenhope suffered a shock to their title aspirations when they travelled to mid-table Boroughbridge and came back empty handed. Oxenhope took a strong squad and for the first thirty minutes dominated the game with the home side struggling to get out of their own half. Oxenhope had Gaz Ritson returning after a long injury lay off and it was he that had first sight of goal but Boro’s keeper easily dealt with his effort. The home side’s wide man then went down the flank and his looping cross was over hit, deceived keeper Nick Hudson and ended in the net. This sparked life into the home side and with only their second attack of the first half their front man pounced on some sloppy play and Rob Pullan’s attempt to regain possession resulted in a penalty that was duly despatched.

The second half started like the first with Oxenhope dominating the play but there was no end product with wild shots coming in from all angles. Oxenhope’s defence was undone once again with a clever one two and Boroughbridge’s front man finished well to leave Oxenhope stunned.

They will need to bounce back from this shock defeat when this Saturday they face Hunslet Reserves at the Recreation Ground (2.00pm) in a top of the table clash.

Oxenhope first team’s game against Ripon City fell victim to the weather. This week they face a stern test when they travel to Premier Division leaders and West Riding County Cup holders Field in a West Yorkshire League Cup Round Two tie (1.30pm).
