Sutton Rascals u-15s 5 Crossley u-15s 4

Sutton clinched their second title in two years with this win after nearest rivals Keighley Shamrocks Crusaders slipped up against Calverley.

They came from 4-3 down at half-time to claim the points and be crowned Craven, Aire & Wharfe League Under-15 A champions.

A great strike from Luke Mackleston gave them the lead and more chances came their way but they were denied by good goalkeeping and the woodwork. Toby Jeffery's sweeping run and shot put Rascals 2-0 up but Crossley hit back with two soft goals.

A corner from Jeffery was headed in by Michael Bailey but Rascals' inability to defend set-pieces saw them 4-3 down at half-time.

Ben Clarkson got Sutton back on level terms but they missed a penalty with ten minutes to go. However, Rascals rallied and scorer Clarkson's flicked header found the net to clinch the title.

The whole team were given the man of the match award, while big thanks go to Pete Jeffery and Jim Bailey for their continued dedication.

After a tense first ten minutes against a physical Salts team, Shammies created opportunities with enterprising play from Dylan Murgatroyd and Fergus Turnbull.

Dylan Ward broke free and fired a wickedly-swerving shot which the keeper could only parry into the path of Kas Ali, who pounced to score the opener.

Tom Ormerod sent an inch-perfect free-kick into the path of Harry Farnell, who added a deft touch to find the bottom left corner of the net.

The Shammies defence of Lucas Roberts, Zain Hussain, Max Pearson and Reece Hird were outstanding as they repelled wave after wave of attacks from Salts.

A great clearance form Joe Polignone ended up with Keenan Potts, who beat one defender then fired an outstanding shot just inside the near post for the third goal.

In an entertaining game, Albion took a 2-0 lead by half-time but it soon became 2-2 with goals by Sam Maude and Andy Briggs in a spirited fightback.

Albion restored their lead with 20 minutes left, only for Silsden to gain a deserved equaliser when Briggs powered in a second – and his third in successive weeks – with ten minutes remaining.
