KEIGHLEY could have a major say in who wins the Mastab’s Craven League Second Division.

Sporting Keighley have a handy six-point lead at the top but will come under pressure from Oxenhope Recreation and Broomhill.

They both have three games in hand and trail by nine and ten points respectively in third and fifth, while FC Polonia are more outside bets, despite being fourth, as, like Sporting Keighley, they have played 15.

The latter made heavy work of overcoming lowly hosts Salts 2-1, whose goalkeeper was in great form. Shazaib Hussain and Aaran Abbas, who received Salts’ vote as man of the match, had given Sporting a 2-0 lead but the home side’s late goal was a worry for a team who have now won eight straight in the league.

Oxenhope Rec climbed from fifth to third on the back of a 4-2 win at Manningham All Stars, Joel Gallagher (2) and substitute Paul Quinlan being on target as Nivard Trowers won the man of the match.

Cross Hills, who won 4-1 at home to Wilsden Athletic, extended their lead to three points at the top of the Premier Division as Rolls could only draw 1-1 at home to Grassington United.

Man of the match Will Storrie grabbed two goals for Hills and Ben Dewhurst and Sam Sowerbutts also found the target.

Reece Fowler did best for Cononley Sports, who went down 4-0 at home to third-placed Skipton LMS, while Cowling bowed out of the Premier Division Cup at the quarter-final stage, losing 2-1 at Trawden Celtic, despite leading 1-0 at half-time.

Silsden Whitestar, who trounced AFC Colne 7-0, still lead the way in the First Division.

Sam Stansfield (3), Ben O’Melia (2), Mark Bradley and James Whitehead were on target for the Cobbydalers, whose star man was Andrew McNulty, but there was no joy for Bradley and Cononley Sports Reserves near the bottom.

Zach Conway got the consolation for Bradley in a 4-1 home defeat to Rolls Reserves, while Cononley’s second string fell 5-1 at Gargrave, Robert Slater netting their sole goal.

There was a full league programme in the Third Division, and Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves gained revenge for a 4-3 defeat in November at Addingham by winning the reverse fixture 6-1.

Liam Fothergill grabbed a hat-trick in just 15 minutes. Addingham pulled a goal back in the second half but it was a temporary blip as Kyle Todd grabbed a brace and man of the match Liam Bellamy also scored for the Steampigs.

Cross Hills Reserves maintained their slim promotion hopes with a gritty 4-3 victory at Cowling Reserves, taking the lead via Chris Rushton.

Martyn Dalby levelled and Jody Procter’s acrobatic mishit put Cowling 2-1 ahead before Jimmy Anson’s sweetly-struck shot made it 2-2 before the break.

Dalby’s second put Cowling 3-2 in front but man of the match Rushton made it 3-3 with another sweet strike before Shaun Wood got the winner for Hills in a great derby.

Sutton Reserves were denied the chance of a rare draw by a late Pendle Renegades Reserves goal in a 3-1 defeat.

Cain Hudson’s goal had halved Pendle’s lead, Shaun Bell getting Sutton’s man of the match award.
