Shipley Town 0, Cullingworth Youth 1

JOHNATHAN Clewes was Cullingworth's match-winner as they concluded a difficult Wharfedale Triangle League season with a welcome victory.

A wind-assisted shot by Clewes gave the Shipley keeper no chance as his side moved level on points with their opponents, although Youth are almost certain to finish the season second-bottom in the Premier Division.

Shipley had beaten league leaders Yeadon Veterans in the League Cup the previous weekend but could find no way past stand-in visiting keeper Kyle Fox.

Regular centre-back Fox drew the short straw to take over in goal as the usual stopper was absent, with striker Joshua Ellison moving back to form a solid defensive pairing alongside Dave Sanderson as they shared the man of the match honours.

Shipley had slightly the better of things with a strong wind behind them in the first half as neither team managed a shot on target.

But Cullingworth then controlled play after the interval and took the lead inside ten minutes when Clewes fired home from 20 yards.

Youth created further chances to extend their lead but they were not made to pay as the only Shipley opportunities came from corners.

Bingley 1, Keighley Town 5

TOWN still have a slim chance of finishing top of the Premier Division after this crushing win against their forthcoming District Cup final opponents.

Leon Smith (2), Leroy Hickman, Joe Drake and Craig Morris netted the goals as Keighley moved to within three points of leaders Yeadon Veterans, who missed a chance to seal top spot by only drawing 1-1 with mid-table Ilkley Dynamo.
