Silsden Dragons u-12s 3, Keighley Shamrocks Crusaders u-12s 0

AFTER another long lay-off, Silsden put in a fine Craven League performance against local rivals Shamrocks in wet and blustery conditions.

The visitors looked comfortable in possession in the early stages but could not make the most of the wind at their backs.

The Dragons' defence rarely yielded to the pressure of the league's top marksman Ben Sharp and, with a smart breakaway move, they went in front.

After neat work from Kyle Sharp, Jack Muir's inch-perfect through-ball was coolly despatched by Greg Wood and the home side never looked back.

They were dominant in the second half as skipper Toby Cunningham pulled the strings. Muir caused all sorts of problems for the Keighley side and his superb crosses saw James Nelson hit two fine first-time shots that were well saved.

But when Nelson unleashed a ferocious strike into the top corner from 20 yards, the game was all but over.

Jack Reynard grabbed the Dragons' third goal with a fine solo effort and it could have been more but for a good display from the Shamrocks keeper.

Crossley Juniors u-14s 2, Oakworth Wasps u-14s 1 (after extra time)

OAKWORTH dug deep in atrocious weather conditions but bowed out of the League Cup in the first round to higher-ranked opponents.

Crossley are top of Division B, as opposed to a Wasps side who are third in Division C, and the tie should have been very one-sided. But the visitors put in a superb performance to hold Crossley to a single goal before the interval.

The second-half football was then end to end before Wasps equalised through a goal from Luke Hegarty which took the contest to extra time.

But the hosts eventually broke down Oakworth's defence, which was well led by man of the match Michael Coffey, to nick the decisive goal.

Oxenhope u-18s 2, Long Lee u-18s 1

OXENHOPE'S final Craven League game saw them secure a runners-up finish in their first season in the competition.

The home side took the lead midway through the first half when a Lewis Hopkinson free-kick was headed in by Sam Murphy, who added a second after the break when following up his initial shot against the post.

Long Lee pulled one back with ten minutes left but the home side held out and their attention now turns to the League Cup.
