TONIGHT'S Keighley & District FA Supplementary Cup final at Silsden AFC marks the start of the biggest eight days in Oxenhope Recreation's history.

Their reserves, who are holders, and third team are doing battle, while, 24 hours later, the first team face West Yorkshire League Premier Division rivals Leeds City in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup final at county HQ at Fleet Lane, Woodlesford (7.30).

These two games are a prelude to the Keighley & District FA Challenge Cup final a week tomorrow back at Silsden, when Oxenhope's first team, who are the holders, face West Riding County Amateur League neighbours Steeton, who lost the county final last season 5-2 to Field.

Oxenhope's first-team manager Sam Duffin said of Leeds City, who are pushing Field for the championship: "They are a good passing side, move it quickly and interchange their midfield four with their front two, but we have identified areas where we feel we can hurt them."

It is the first time Oxenhope have reached the County Cup final in their 102-year history, while Leeds City lifted the trophy three years ago.

The only sadness for Oxenhope as far as tomorrow is concerned is the calf injury suffered by their skipper Ben White.

Duffin said: "We are at full strength apart from Ben, which is a crying shame as he is 'Mr Oxenhope' and is a very good player and captain.

"He injured his calf seven or eight weeks ago and rested it for four or five weeks but then it went again ten minutes after he came on the pitch."

As for tonight's match, Duffin said: "It is a fantastic achievement for the club to get our two teams in the final but it is a particularly fantastic achievement for our third team.

"We are in a win-win situation tonight and I can sit on the fence but you just hope that all this success can attract one or two players for next season and that it shows that we are a well-run club."
