OXENHOPE Rec Thirds boosted their Division Two title hopes with a 9-2 win at home to Manningham on Tuesday night.

It came on the back of their 2-1 win over rivals Broomhill, whom they went level with on points at the top of the table, with Rec having a game in hand.

Broomhill took the lead in their top-of-the-table clash when Adam Tanner darted in at the front post to head in a delivery from out wide.

After the break Oxenhope started to ramp up the pressure and on 80 minutes their attacking play eventually told.

Following a one-two with Liam Dyson, Connor Madden chested the ball down on the edge of the box and unleashed a low left foot strike into the bottom corner.

In the dying minutes Joel Gallagher scored a superb solo goal, turning his marker and coolly clipping his shot over the keeper for a vital three vital points.

The win capped a fine week for Oxenhope, who also won the Division Two League Cup final. They beat Grindleton Reserves 2-1 in extra-time thanks to goals from Joel Gallagher and Dan Scott.

Promotion-chasing Sporting Keighley, meanwhile, were handed a walkover by Grindleton Reserves in what is a four-way race for the two promotion spots with Grassington United Reserves the other contender.

Ingrow & Worth Valley lost their Division One Cup final 4-1 against AFC Colne on Tuesday night.

Cross Hills may not win the Premier Division title, but they are doing all that they can to make it as hard as possible for their rivals to overtake them.

The leaders completed their programme with a 2-0 home victory over Grassington United to put them six points in front of second-placed Rolls, who have two games in hand but a superior goal difference of ten.

However, the main threat may yet come from Settle United, who are 15 points behind Cross Hills but have six matches remaining and a goal difference that is 11 better than Rolls.

Ninth-placed Cononley Sports have suffered defeats at Settle (4-2) and Rolls (3-1), with goals coming from Laurence Dunne and man of the match Craig Gregory against United and Gregory against Rolls, while Thabani Songo was again bottom club Cowling’s best player in a 2-0 defeat at Skipton LMS.

There was much less mercy shown to Sutton, however, who are propping up Division Two.

They went down 14-1 at home to Salts, taking the goals conceded column to 89 in 17 matches.

Substitute Scott Russell got the only goal for Sutton, whose man of the match was Jack Shaw.

In Division Three, Luke Newton (2), Jimmy Anson and Luke Daniel were on target for Cross Hills Reserves in their 4-1 home victory against Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves, Graham Whitaker replying, but the latter bounced back with a 3-0 home win over Barlick Wanderers.

Joe Crummack won both man-of-the-match awards for Sutton, for whom Michael Ruddock and substitute Aiden Robertson were on target in a 4-2 home defeat against Cowling Reserves.

Meanwhile, Bradley Reserves went down 2-1 at home to Ilkley, with Chris Hogg netting for the hosts.
