West Yorkshire League Premier Division: Wetherby 0 Oxenhope Rec 1

Oxenhope travelled to Wetherby, who were two places above them, and came back with a hard-earned three points.

Despite missing several key players, Rec took the lead on the quarter-hour when Craig Morris latched on to Dan Moriarty's cross and powered in a strike from the edge of the box.

Keeper Sam Lee charged from his line to make a brave save at the feet of a Wetherby striker while, at the other end, Morris cut the ball back to the advancing Liam McNicol, whose powerful shot was saved.

After the break it was a totally different story as the home side dominated. Oxenhope were put under extreme pressure but their defence showed steel, with centre backs Scott Nelson and man of the match Jason Walton in commanding form.

On 80 minutes keeper Lee produced one of the best piece of goalkeeping of the season. A Wetherby player on the edge of the area hit what appeared an unstoppable shot until Lee produced a top-drawer save, flying across his goal at full stretch to tip the ball over.

Oxenhope had chance in the dying minutes to increase their lead when Moriarty broke away and set up Lewis Hopkinson but the home keeper saved well.

League fixtures now come thick and fast as Oxenhope play catch-up following their successful cup exploits. They have five remaining games over the next two weeks, starting with East End Park at home tonight before travelling to Hunslet on Wednesday and then on the road again next Saturday to Ripon City (2.30pm).

Oxenhope: Lee, Wells, McNicol, Nelson, Walton, Kaine, Day (Hopkinson), Moriarty, Smith, Quinlan (Wellard), Morris.

Alliance Division One

Field Reserves 3 Oxenhope Reserves 0

Oxenhope’s tilt at the Alliance title was made a whole lot harder following a crushing defeat at Fields in midweek. The visitors went behind when skipper Will Lee brought down a striker and the resulting penalty was converted. The remainder of the half saw Rec miss chances through wayward finishing or good saves.

After the break the home side doubled their lead when a free-kick to the far post was headed in. Oxenhope had the immediate chance to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty following James Bailey being brought down in the area but the usually reliable Lee blasted his spot-kick wide. Fields made certain of the points when, with ten minutes left, a shot from distance deceived keeper Rick Driver.

The reserves now have to win all their three remaining fixture to take the title, starting with a top of the table clash at home to Hunslet Reserves on Saturday (2.30pm).
