STEETON finished their West Riding County Amateur League campaign with a 3-0 defeat in horrendous conditions at Campion.

Following success the previous season, it has been a disappointing one for the Chevrons and one that Roy Mason (pictured) was glad to see the back of.

The Steeton boss said: “It has been a tough season. We had no regular goalkeeper for the first month and we were also missing a few key players through injury and suspensions.

“This meant we started with three defeats and we were always playing catch-up. We also tried to integrate a few of our reserve and under-18 players, so we knew that it would be one of transition.

“The younger lads that have come in have done very well and we have some promising players on our hands. However, it is vital we strengthen as there have been times where the team has picked itself and we really need to get competition for places.

“I have already started planning for next season and I would urge any players that are interested in coming down to the club to get in contact with me via our website.”

The club also wants to get more people involved off the field.
