West Yorkshire League Premier Division: Ripon City 3 Oxenhope 2

Oxenhope travelled to already-relegated Ripon City but, despite being on top for the majority of the game, came back empty-handed due to solid defending and wasted chances.

The visitors went ahead on ten minutes when Craig Morris beat his marker and set up Dan Moriarty, whose measured shot beat the Ripon keeper. Further efforts went wide or were saved by the keeper and Ripon equalised when they took advantage of a quick free-kick and caught Rec knapping.

Early in the second half Moriarty was brought down in the box but the usually-reliable Chris Day saw his penalty saved.

Oxenhope did regain the lead when Morris was again the provider, weaving his way through the defence before laying the ball off for Ollie Metcalfe to rifle in.

But within five minutes Ripon struck two quick goals from long balls, catching the defence flat-footed.

Oxenhope still have two games to play in the league, tonight at home to Robin Hood and at Leeds City on Wednesday.

Oxenhope: Lee, Day (Davies), McNicol, Cox, Walton, Quinlan, Morris, Moriarty, Smith, Metcalfe, Marshall.

Alliance Division One: Oxenhope Reserves 3 Hunslet Reserves 3

Oxenhope slipped out of the title race after a last-minute equaliser kept Hunslet's own championship aspirations alive.

The home side went ahead on five minutes when Joe Brady turned his marker and fired into the corner. On the half-hour they increased their lead when Will Lee went past his opposite number and curled a pass into the path of the advancing Karl Wellard, who got beyond the defender and slotted past the keeper.

Hunslet pulled one back from the spot in their first attack of the second half. On 70 minutes they grabbed the equaliser when a midfielder burst into the box unmarked and tapped in.

With just five minutes left, Oxenhope struck their third when Lee side-stepped his marker and rifled in from 20 yards.

Hunslet went all out for the equaliser and an unsavoury incident saw two of their players receive red cards. But in the final minute the ball broke to a midfielder, who lobbed in from 25 yards to shatter Oxenhope’s title dreams.

The reserves now need points from their last two fixtures, at home to Ilkley on Wednesday evening and at home to Beeston on Saturday (1pm), as they seek to claim the runners-up spot.

Craven League Division Two

Oxenhope Thirds took the Division Two title without kicking a ball when opposition Sutton United did not turn up for their game and Oxenhope were handed the three points by the league. In so doing, the Thirds have accomplished a league and cup double.
