THERE was no doubt as to where the most excitement was in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League on Saturday.

Visitors Sutton and Ilkley took some separating at Ilkley Grammar School Playing Fields in the second round of the Northern Plant Hire Trophy.

Sutton led 1-0 at half-time but it was 2-2 at full-time and 4-4 after extra-time, with Ilkley triumphing 4-1 in the penalty shoot-out in the all-Division Three clash.

John and Joe Crummack, Michael Ruddock and substitute Ben Miller were on target for Sutton, whose man of the match award went to Wayne Gray.

In the Premier Division, eighth-placed Cross Hills sprang a minor surprise with a 1-0 victory at fifth-placed Silsden Whitestar, with John Berry (Whitestar) and Harry Tosney picking up the respective awards.

In the Division One Cup, Oxenhope Recreation will be at home to Bingley Town in the second round after both won their first-round ties at the weekend.

Young Kieran Henry created an opening for Chris Newman, who smashed the ball into the net from 30 yards out for Oxenhope's opener in a 4-1 win at home to Ingrow & Worth Valley. The second came soon after when a long ball from keeper Ricky Driver looped over the Ingrow defence and Tom Thompson ran onto it and nodded the ball over the keeper. The visitors pulled one back just before the break through Ryan Stubbs.

The home side continued to apply the pressure and a fifty-fifty aerial challenge saw Karl Wellard head the ball on to Thompson, he was challenged by the Ingrow keeper but he bravely nodded the ball in for his second. Oxenhope made the tie safe when youngster Matty Klava skipped round the full back and his low cross was dispatched by Newman for his second.

McKenzie Dawson (Oxenhope) and Liam Bellamy (Ingrow) were the men of the match.

Michael Judson collected the gong for Bingley Town, who thrashed Bradley 9-1, the consolation goal coming from David Hassell.

Fifth-placed Sporting Keighley were 3-1 winners at third-placed Chatburn in Division One, Mohammed Ammer, Alhassaine Keita and Shazad Khan being on target for Sporting, who were inspired by Aatir Zuber.

Meanwhile, in Division Two, Broomhill have risen a place to second on the back of a 3-0 victory at tenth-placed Cross Hills Reserves.

All of the goals came in the second half, substitutes Joe Jalil and Michael Turner netting for the Keighley side, whose third goal was a bullet header by Chris Holroyd.

The hosts were young and organised, restricting the Badgers' top scorer Andy Turner to half-chances, and manager Stewart Kinnear brought on debutants Jalil and Matthew Kershaw at half-time.

Jalil's quick thinking from a throw-in allowed him to half-volley the first goal and fellow substitute Michael Turner made it 2-0 with a swerving drilled cross.

Holroyd's thumping header from a Jamie Greenwood corner was the icing on the cake against the best team Broomhill have faced this season.

Daniel Trojan-inspired FC Polonia certainly cashed in with so many teams on cup duty, defeating visitors Skipton Town Reserves to climb five places to fourth.

Goals came from Lukasz Sarosinski (3), Bis Andrzej, Mirdstaw Bak, Artur Lasczowski and Mariusz Skczek but Damian Sweis was sent off.

Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves had a red-letter day in Division Three, their 2-2 draw at second-placed Addingham moving them off the bottom of the table.

Conor Davis and Matthew Masters netted against the new leaders, Ryan Gaughan getting the man of the match award.

Cowling Reserves, who had Thabani Songo to lend his experience, drew 0-0 at home to AFC Barnoldswick but Bingley Town Reserves lost 3-1 at Barlick Wanderers.

In the Division Three Cup, 13th-placed Broomhill Reserves were no match for second-placed visitors Otley Town, losing 7-1, with Joe Slater getting the consolation goal and the man of the match award.
