WEST RIDING COUNTY FA WOMEN'S CUP: Clifton Rangers 0 Silsden 11

THE Cobbydalers dominated their lower-level opposition from start to finish, despite fielding a relatively inexperienced side.

Elly Field started the scoring when she was first to react after the keeper dropped an early effort from Jess Buck, prodding the ball home, and player of the match Melissa Houldsworth then scored a hat-trick in the space of 13 minutes with some controlled finishing.

Lily Davies lashed a thunderous effort into the roof of the net and Field added another before half-time.

The pressure and tempo was maintained in the second period, with Field completing her hat-trick and Houldsworth adding to her tally when she latched onto a perfect through ball from Charlotte Hutchinson.

Kylie Armstrong got on the end of a cross from Davies, and Becca Brown celebrated her 21st birthday with a delicate flick from a flag-kick that nestled just inside the corner of the net.

The scoring was completed by the hard-working Buck but credit must be given to Clifton, who battled to the end and never let their heads drop.

Silsden face Leeds at home in the second round on Sunday, November 15.
