ON A day when few matches beat the weather, Cowling stole a march on some of their rivals in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League First Division.

They travelled to second-placed Chatburn and won 5-0 via goals by Sam Woolley (3), Luke Barker and Keiran Duxbury, Thabani Songo adding another man of the match award to his collection.

The victory lifted Cowling from sixth to third, and they are now only three points behind Chatburn with four games in hand, and three points adrift of leaders Pendle Renegades, who have also played nine matches.

However, Ingrow and Worth Valley missed an opportunity to put pressure on the top three by losing 3-2 at home to AFC Colne, who overtook them in going fourth.

Ryan Stubbs and substitute Stuart Hoyle were on target for the David Want-inspired Steampigs, who have dropped to sixth.

Wilsden Athletic must have been dreaming of victory when they led visitors Trawden Celtic 2-0 at half-time in the Premier Division via efforts from Tom Dibb and Jordan Woosley.

But the seventh-placed hosts had been pegged back to 2-2 by full-time against second-placed Celtic.

Polonia were another team that couldn't hang on to their advantage.

They were 3-1 up at the interval at Salts in the Second Division but ended up drawing 4-4.

Lukasz Sarosinki, Daniel Wisniewski, Maciej Zoltek netted for the away team in the first half, with Mirdstaw Bak scoring early in the second half for the fourth-placed club at their sixth-placed hosts.

There was a smattering of games in the second round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy that had been postponed the previous weekend, and Craven League mid-table First Division side Sporting Keighley felt hard done by to lose 4-1 at West Yorkshire League Second Division Mount St Mary's.

The hosts took the lead via a soft penalty and, in a half which they dominated, Sporting were unlucky not to score, with Mohammed Ammer hitting a post.

Alhassaine Keita did level for the visitors in the second half, finishing off a lovely move down the right, but couldn't capitalise on other opportunities, and gifted St Mary's a second goal before being finished off by two counter-attacks in the final ten minutes.

Craven League Second Division promotion contenders Broomhill did win, however, trouncing York League visitors Cawood 7-1 but Halifax League side Denholme United Reserves lost 4-1 at home to Huddersfield League side Brook Motors.
