Horsforth St Margaret's u-18s 6 Silsden u-18s 2

THIS top of the table clash turned in favour of Horsforth in the second minute of first-half injury-time.

The game was played at a high intensity, despite the soft pitch, and was even until a misplaced pass saw Horsforth take the lead on the counter-attack.

This was doubled soon after when a long throw was stabbed home.

Five minutes before the break a delightfully-flighted ball by Oliver Whitham put Andy Briggs in on goal and he made no mistake.

But with the last kick of the half, Horsforth made it 3-1 following another quick break.

Within three minutes of the resumption it was 4-1 when a corner was swept home but Silsden showed great spirit as Briggs made it 4-2 before a header from Kieran Pennington flashed past the upright.

As the game became stretched, Horsforth finished off with two more goals, making it six wins out of six.

They were worthy winners but Silsden felt aggrieved that only a yellow card was shown to a Horsforth player for an alleged stamping in the second half.
