SPORTING Keighley and Grassington United's third-round Northern Plant Hire Trophy match was abandoned following an altercation.

"I can confirm that there was an altercation but as a report has been sent to the West Riding County FA, I cannot comment any further," said Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League chairman Gerry Aldersley.

The winners will be at home to Division One strugglers Embsay in the quarter-finals, but Arron Gough was the only scorer for Cononley Sports in their 3-1 first-round Premier Division Cup defeat at Wilsden Athletic, for whom Dave McCarten (2) and Robert Carberry were on target.

Third-placed Broomhill won the big clash in Division Two, defeating second-placed Carleton 4-2 to climb above them.

Matthew Kershaw's hat-trick helped him win one of the match gongs, with Liam Baker getting the other goal.

Meanwhile, FC Polonia consolidated fourth place with a 9-1 home victory over relegation-threatened Cross Hills Reserves.

Among the scorers for the hosts were Lukasz Sarosinki (3), Lukasz Daildzic, Daniel Wisniewski, Maciej Zoltek and substitutes Macilj Gawrydi and Damian Swies, three of the goals coming in a four-minute spell midway through the second half.

Cononley Sports Reserves were the day's big movers, rising three places to sixth on the back of a 4-3 home win over Trawden Celtic Reserves, one of the clubs they hopped over.

Michael Beilby, Craig Ebbrell, Andrew Waite and substitute Charles Calvert were Sports' marksmen, with Colin Throupe getting the man of the match award.

In Division Three, Cowling Reserves lost 7-3 at Otley Town and Sutton went down 4-0 at home to Horton.
