BROOMHILL face what could well be their toughest challenge of the season tonight (Thursday) in the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League.

The second-placed club face third-placed FC Polonia at Marley in a promotion 'six-pointer' in the Second Division.

Both Keighley rivals have set their sights on leaders Manningham All Stars, but fourth-placed Carleton can't be discounted either as they have games in hand on the top three.

Broomhill warmed up for the clash against the Poles with a 2-0 victory at seventh-placed Cononley Sports Reserves that was built on discipline and patience.

Andrew Tanner was twice foiled by superb tackles after springing the Cononley offside trap but in-form substitute Bradley Coles – on for the injured Jamie Greenwood – soon put the Badgers ahead from right back Chris Reynolds' square pass following man of the match Jake Ward's quick free-kick.

With Broomhill keeper Jake Yaxley clearing danger from through balls, the visitors should have extended their advantage before half-time, with Joe Slater blasting over after a flowing move and David Rhodes heading over from a Matthew Wilson corner.

In the second half, as Broomhill's midfield domination continued, Coles and Tom Hill had efforts blocked on the line before Slater effectively sealed the win on the hour when he drilled the ball underneath the keeper at his near post from Ward's canny through ball.

King, Coles and Ward all went close in the dying minutes, but Yaxley also had to be alert at the other end to thwart the hosts on several occasions.

Polonia, who have also played 16 games, remained four points behind after a 3-2 win at tenth-placed Settle United Reserves, courtesy of goals by Damian Swies, Daniel Wisniewski and Maciej Zoltek, the latter duo both picking up yellow cards minutes after scoring.

Cowling, who are second in the First Division, suffered a shock 5-0 home defeat to fifth-placed Rolls Reserves, which may open the door for Rolls' second string, as well as Sporting Keighley.

Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves climbed to eighth on the back of a 5-3 home win over Skipton Town, Ryan Stubbs hitting four and Jack Bilney one, but Bradley went down 3-1 at home to Oxenhope Recreation, for whom Joshua Yeadon (2) and man of the match Paul Quinlan scored, Shaun Wiseman getting the consolation.

Sam Stanfield's brace for Silsden Whitestar was not enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat at home to Skipton LMS in the Premier Division, but Ryan Narey-inspired Cross Hills rose one spot to sixth after a 5-1 triumph at Grindleton.

Broomhill Reserves are off the bottom in the Third Division after a battling 3-3 draw at home to second-placed Otley Town, David Spence and Cameron Galindo among those netting, while Bingley Town Reserves picked up an equally unlikely 3-3 draw at home to fourth-placed Barnoldswick Barons.

However, Cowling Reserves lost 6-2 at Barlick Wanderers, man of the match George Sellas and Sam Wedgwood being on target.
