North West Counties League Premier Division: Abbey Hey 1 Silsden 3

THE Cobbydalers recovered from going a goal down to earn a victory that lifted them off the bottom.

James Gill’s men remain in the drop zone but they will be looking to build some momentum after banking what was only their second away win of the season.

Following a goalless first half, the Mancunians broke the deadlock just four minutes after the interval.

Cobbydalers’ keeper Ed Hall raced out to meet Lee Cattermole’s back pass but his attempted clearance struck Jack Tinning and rebounded into the net.

Silsden were behind for just seven minutes, however, before Chris Wademan converted Matty Moses’ low cross, following a superb move.

There were chances for the home side, although Hall was rarely troubled before the match was turned inside a two-minute spell.

Danny Forrest controlled a corner before dispatching the ball into the net in the 69th minute, and, soon after, substitute Tom Henderson netted the visitors’ third.

Cobbydalers’ press secretary Jim Rosser said: “It was a very good win, a vital win and we’re off the bottom.

“Danny’s goal was another bit of pure class from him - a superb goal – and it was a good team performance all round. We have beaten them twice there this season and we won there in the league last season.

“I think our supporters were muttering ‘can we play you every week’ at one point, and the rest of us were nodding in agreement.”
