Skipton Town Ladies 1 Silsden Ladies Development 3

SILSDEN had to concede home advantage due to their pitch being unavailable but they didn't let this affect them.

They went ahead in the 10th minute when Chloe Greenwood's clever lob over the defence was latched on to by striker Hollie Kirtley. She controlled the awkward bounce and superbly slotted home.

Dee Rutherford's powerful shot seemed destined for the net but the Skipton keeper pulled off a fantastic save. Moments later, Rutherford was denied again when her header from a corner was cleared off the line.

Silsden made several changes midway through the half as midfielders Sara Betterton and Vicky Williamson added strength to the team.

Skipton suffered a setback when their keeper was taken off injured but the hosts equalised in the 28th minute following a goalmouth scramble.

The goal galvanised Skipton, who started the second half well, while Silsden substitute Lucie Margaret went close at the other end.

Leah Gilmore, who was making a long-awaited comeback, produced some killer deliveries into the box to trouble Skipton's defence, Greenwood being inches away from converting one of them.

Finally in the 61st minute, Gilmore's corner was blasted home at the far post by match point winner Kourtnai Broughton.

Trying to get back in the game, Skipton left gaps in midfield. Naomi Di Franco found space down the centre before striking a powerful shot against Town's bar.

But she sealed victory for Silsden in the 83rd minute with a super strike. The win put the Cobbydalers second in Division Three, though Amaranth have since gone above them.
