West Yorkshire League Alliance One: Oxenhope Rec Reserves 1 Field Reserves 0

OXENHOPE took the title race to the wire with victory in their final game of the season.

That was despite getting off to the worst start possible when goalkeeper Sam Lee was sent off after only five minutes when he brought down a striker through on goal, leaving the referee no option but to issue a red card.

Oxenhope re-organised and started to create chances, with Chris Day and Craig Morris failing to convert.

After a goalless first half, Day looked certain to score 15 minutes into the second half but the keeper blocked his shot at full stretch.

Then Owen Williamson weaved his way past three players into the box before his shot struck the inside of the post and went straight back into the arms of Field's grateful keeper.

Oxenhope got their break with eight minutes to go when Liam Blacka slotted home from the spot after the hosts were awarded a penalty for a blatant push.

Oxenhope's win meant they finished with 70 points out of a possible 78 and means rivals Beeston Reserves must win their final game at home to Horbury Town Reserves tonight to clinch the title.
