OXENHOPE enjoyed a morale-boosting 2-0 friendly victory at home to Evo-Stik League Division One North side Brighouse Town.

An early strike by Craig Morris put the hosts ahead and Danny Driver scored the second on the quarter-hour.

The hosts dominated the first half before Brighouse's superior fitness came into play after the break but Oxenhope managed to hold out and keep a clean sheet.

Oxenhope Thirds were beaten 2-1 at home by fellow Craven League side Silsden White Star. After a goalless first half Andy Fox put Oxenhope in front but White Star came back with a well taken free kick and then snatched the winner.

Tomorrow night Oxenhope first team entertain West Riding County Amateur League neighbours Steeton (6.45pm).

The Chevrons also enjoyed a 2-0 friendly win over higher-ranked opposition, beating Colne – who are in the same league as Brighouse – thanks to goals from Lee Thompson and Sam Fox.

The deadlock was broken after 25 minutes when great play from Oliver Hunter and Joe Park carved open the defence. Park found Thompson at the edge of the area and he made no mistake in finding the bottom left-hand corner.

The second goal came 15 minutes from time as Fox scored from long range after spotting the keeper off his line.

Steeton followed up the result with a 5-1 defeat at Glasshoughton Welfare, Sam Rooke on target with a header.
