SILSDEN fell at the first hurdle in this season's FA Cup as they lost 3-1 at home to Bridlington Town in an extra preliminary round replay last night.
Having brought the Northern Counties League Premier Division side back to Keighley Road after a 1-1 draw last Saturday, hopes were high that the Cobbydalers could progress and earn an away trip to Guisborough Town.
But the seaside visitors took control early, establishing a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to two goals from Brett Agnew and an own goal from Luke Richardson.
Danny Forrest, who was deputising at the helm in the absence of boss James Gill, pulled a goal back for the hosts after 70 minutes but it proved in vain.
In the first match at Bridlington, Richardson had set up the replay with a 73rd-minute equaliser after Andy Norfolk had given Town a first-half lead.
Silsden now turn their attention to the start of their league campaign on Saturday (3pm) when they host Ashton Town in their opening Hallmark Security Football League Division One fixture.
They are also at home next Tuesday when they welcome Charnock Richard (7.45pm).
